LAKEWOOD RANCH, Fla. – Four Vandals sit in the top 10, led by
Kyndall Newman in third place, as Idaho women's golf sits in second as a team after two rounds of the Falcon Florida Classic hosted by Bowling Green at the Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club just east of Sarasota.
The Vandals put in back-to-back under par rounds as a team and sit five-under with a two-round team-score of 571. The Vandals were one stroke back of Northern Illinois after the first round, but the Huskies put together an eight-under 280 in the second round to push their lead to seven strokes with one round to play.
Newman is tied for the best round of the tournament after putting up a first-round 68 (-4) to tie for the lead after one. She put up a second-round 73 (+1) and dropped to third on the leaderboard at three-under through 36 holes.
Vicky Tsai put up a two-under 70 in the first round and followed that up with a second round, even-par 72 and sits in a tie for fourth.
Yvonne Vinceri scored a first-round 75 (+3), but battled back with a second-round 69 (-3) to move into a tie for ninth. Baipor Khunsri scored two rounds of even-par golf to also sit for a tie for ninth.
Jenna Bruggeman sits in 37th overall with a score of 151 and
Boram Jung, golfing as an independent, sits in a tie for 49th at 154.
The Vandals tee off at 5 a.m. Pacific time Tuesday for the final 18 holes of the tournament.
