BOZEMAN, Mont. – The Idaho women's tennis team (3-10, 1-3 BSC) fell on the road in a matchup against Montana State (4-10, 1-3 BSC), 4-3 on Friday afternoon at the Bobcat-Anderson Tennis Center.
The Vandals took the early lead after winning all three doubles matches but fell short in singles play.
Lena Beckx and
Annabel Davis teamed up to earn a 6-3 win at No. 1 to get Idaho started.
Jayanne Palma and
Valentina Rodas followed with a 6-3 victory on court two while
Saffron Dowse and
Rachelle Starreveld earned a 6-4 result at No. 3 to clinch the doubles point.
Davis earned her sixth straight singles win and 10th of the season by defeating Marta Garcia-Reboredo in the No. 1 spot, 6-4, 6-4.
Montana State captured victories at Nos. 2, 3 and 4 to hold a 3-2 advantage.
Palma battled back from down a set to come from behind and earn a three-set victory to even the score at 3-3 at the No. 5 position. She dropped the first set 6-2 before rallying back to earn 6-2 and 6-3 wins to keep the Vandals alive.
Montana State's Jazmin Lerman came out on top over Beckx at No. 6 to clinch a match win for the Bobcats. Beckx fell by way of a tiebreak (8-6) in the first set before earning a second-set victory (6-2) to head to a deciding third frame. Despite leading 4-2, Beckx was unable to fend over Lerman as she battled back to win 6-4.
