MOSCOW, Idaho - Idaho women's tennis wraps up regular season play with a pair of home competitions against Portland State and Weber State at the LCSC Tennis Center in Lewiston, Idaho.
The Vandals start the week off with a match against the Vikings on Friday, April 14 at 12 p.m. before closing out the weekend with a Senior Day contest versus the Wildcats on Sunday, April 16 at 8 a.m.
Idaho looks to get back on track after falling in its third straight match over the weekend to Sacramento State, 5-2. Despite the loss,
Annabel Davis earned her eighth consecutive singles win with a come-from-behind victory over Mayya Gorbunova, 1-6. 7-6, 6-2. She improves to 12-3 overall, 8-3 on court one and 5-0 in Big Sky action. Sophomore
Selin Sepken holds the second most wins in singles play with an 8-6 mark.
Saffron Dowse and
Rachelle Starreveld lead the team in doubles with a 6-4 dual ledger and a 5-2 mark at No. 3.
Scouting the Vikings
Portland State sits at 9-11 on the year and 3-3 in Big Sky play. Three players have at least eight dual singles wins this season, including a team-best 11-6 mark from Elizabeth Strongina. Nika Beukers posts the second most with a 9-7 overall mark while Makoto Ohara is 8-7 on the season. The duo of Masha Ponomareva and Capu Sanoner is one of the top teams in the Big Sky in doubles with a perfect 9-0 dual mark and 4-0 record in conference.
Series History
Friday's contest will be the 19th meeting between the two programs since 1995. Idaho holds a 15-3 advantage in that time and is 3-2 over its last five matchups against Portland State. The Vikings secured a 4-3 home win during the teams' last meeting in 2022.
Scouting the Wildcats
Weber State brings a four-match win streak into Sunday's competition, including an 8-7 overall record and a 5-1 Big Sky mark. Megan Davies and Ana Morett have been Weber's top players on courts one and two each delivering a 9-6 ledger. In doubles action, Davies and Morett are 8-7 on court one while Megan Lombardi and Dylan Lolofie post an 8-5 dual record.
Series History
The Vandals and Wildcats have faced off 16 times since 1995 with Idaho leading the series at 10-6. Weber holds a two-match win streak over the Vandals, including a 5-2 win at home last season.
