LEWISTON, Idaho – Idaho women's tennis fell by way of a 5-2 result to Portland State on Friday afternoon at the LCSC Tennis Center. 

The Vandals opened match play, falling in two of three doubles matches to surrender an early 1-0 deficit. Rachelle Starreveld and Saffron Dowse were victorious at No. 3, earning a 6-2 decision over Emily Rees and Makoto Ohara. 

After PSU posted a win on court one to open singles play, Dowse responded with a 7-5, 6-3 straight-set win over Nika Beukers at No. 4 to bring the score to 2-1 in favor of the Vikings. 

Valentina Rodas secured the Vandals' second point of the day and evened the score at 2-2 after winning on court two. After dropping the first set 6-3, Rodas rallied back with 6-3 and 6-4 decisions over Capu Sanoner. The Vikings won at Nos. 3, 5 and 6 to seal a 5-2 match win.
