MOSCOW, Idaho – Coach Eighmey announced the addition of a talented transfer on Tuesday afternoon. Kennedy Johnson will join the Vandal women's basketball program for the 2023-24 season.

Kennedy Johnson joins the Vandals after two seasons at the University of California Santa Barbara. Johnson will join the Vandals for her junior season.
"Kennedy is an explosive athlete and will add some more size for us at the guard spot," said Coach Eighmey. "She's a great rebounder and will provide much needed aggressiveness and physicality on the offensive glass. Her burst allows her to steal points in transition and get to the rim in the half court. We're thrilled about her becoming a Vandal!"
In her sophomore season at UCSB, Johnson appeared in 30 games and started in three for the Gauchos. She averaged 12.1 minutes and scored 3.5 points per game. Johnson scored 105 points, shooting 41.6% (42-101) from the field and 94.4% (17-18) from the line. Johnson scored a career-high 16 points in a Gaucho win over Stanislaus State, going 66.7% from the field and beyond the arc as well as 100% from the line. Throughout the season, the guard grabbed 67 rebounds and 15 steals while tallying 14 assists and three blocks.
During her freshman campaign, Johnson appeared in 23 games averaging 9 minutes per game. Johnson averaged 3.1 points and 2.7 rebounds per game. In four straight games, Johnson scored seven or more points on 40% shooting. Johnson came off the bench during a win over Cal Poly in which she scored seven points without missing a shot. She ended the season with 72 points, eight blocks, 61 rebounds, 16 assists, and 17 steals.
The Californian native attended Bishop O'Dowd High School where she earned four varsity letters.
