MOSCOW, Idaho – Vandal Track and Field will travel to Greeley, Colo. for the Big Sky Outdoor Championships this week. The University of Northern Colorado will host the four-day tournament that will start Wednesday, May 10
th and run through Saturday, May 12
th.
Both men's and women's sides were picked to finish third in the Big Sky preseason polls and this weekend they will have the opportunity to prove it. The Vandals are returning 10 podium finishers from last year's outdoor championships where they placed third (men's) and sixth (women's) overall.
On the men's side,
Lorenz Herrmann returns to repeat his first-place finish in the men's 800m. He is currently second in the conference with a time of 1:47.80. Herrmann will also compete in the 1500m where is currently in fifth place with a time of 3:41.93.
Spencer Barrera looks to go back-to-back first place in the 400m.
Deyondre Davis will return to compete in the 110m hurdles and the 400m hurdles where he placed fifth and second, respectively. Davis is currently first in the conference in the 400m hurdles with a time of 51.88.
Jemini Archer will once again compete in the 100m dash where he placed third last year. He will also compete in the 200m where he is currently ranked fifth in the conference with a time of 21.38.
Lastly,
Joseph Ruddell aims to improve his place on the podium after finishing second last year. He currently ranks fourth in the Big Sky with a height of 2.07m.
On the women's side,
Camryn Crouch looks to medal in 200m where she came in fifth place last year.
Katja Pattis will compete again in the 3000m steeplechase where she finished third. She is currently second in the conference with a time of 10:05.31. Taylor LyDay will try and improve on last year's fourth-place finish in the triple jump.
Schedule
Wednesday and Thursday will feature only multi events.
Katja Davidowske will compete in the women's heptathlon that will start with 100m hurdles at 9:30 a.m. The event will continue on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. with the long jump. Events will likely conclude at 3:00 p.m. on both days.
On day three, tons of action will kick off with the field events and the men's hammer at 10:00 a.m. and end with the women's long jump at 3:30 p.m. Running events will fire off at noon with the women's 3000m steeplechase. Most of Friday will be prelims with finals on Saturday.
The last day will consist of the remaining field and running events. Women's hammer will start the field events at 9:30 a.m. Running will kick off with the women's 4x100 relay final. The 4x400 meter relays will wrap up the competition following the completion of all field events at roughly 3:00 p.m. The awards ceremony will follow.

Top-5 Performers
Herrmann, Davis, Ruddell, and Pattis are joined by several other Vandals that line the top-five spots in the Big Sky.
Zac Bright will join Herrmann in the 800 meters. Bright is currently third in the Big Sky with a time of 1:49.80.
Jurrian Hering will compete in the 110m hurdles where he is currently in third place with a time of 14.18.
In men's field events,
Justyn Rogers will compete in the long jump where he is currently third in the Big Sky with a mark of 7.49m.
Simone Fedel will try and improve his third place standing with a mark of 15.18m in the triple jump. In throw events,
Noah Culbertson will compete in the shot put where he is currently in second place with a distance of 17.71m. In the women's shot put
Mia Sylvester has the top spot with a distance of 15.64m in the women's shot put.
In women's running events,
Prabhasha Wickramaraachchi will compete in the 400m hurdles where she is currently ranked third with a time of 1:01.24. In the 10,000m,
Kelsey Swenson will compete where she is currently fourth with a time of 33:21.11.
