ST. GEORGE, Utah – The Idaho volleyball team dropped a pair of matches on the road to Marshall and Utah Tech on day one at the Utah Tech Invitational on Friday.
Marshall 3, Idaho 1
Idaho fell to Marshall in four sets, 26-24, 15-25, 23-25, 9-25. Freshman
Keelyn Muell led Idaho in her first match back since Aug. 26, posting 24 assists, three digs and three blocks.
Taryn Vrieling posted double-digit kills with 12 while
Aine Doty posted 20 or more digs for the third time this season with 21.
Renata Lopez Morales provided a spark with six kills, seven digs and two blocks.
Utah Tech 3, Idaho 1
The Vandals dropped their second match of the day to Utah Tech, 15-25, 10-25, 25-16, 9-25. Vrieling led the Vandals with her fourth career double-double, posting 14 kills and 12 digs. Defensively, Doty added 14 digs and
Ceren Sert recorded a career-high five blocks. Muell got the start at setter for the second consecutive match, tallying 22 assists.
The Vandals travel to Cedar City tomorrow to compete against Southern Utah at 11 a.m. PT.
