MOSCOW, Idaho – The Idaho volleyball team makes its longest trip of the season, traveling east to Illinois for the SIUE Volleyball Tournament, Sept. 8-9. The Vandals meet up with the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, SIUE, and Western Illinois University for three matches in two days. 

Idaho will open tournament play against UW-Milwaukee on Friday at 8 a.m. PT before closing out day one with a match against host SIUE at 4 p.m. PT. Idaho finishes out its weekend against Western Illinois on Saturday at 8 a.m. PT.

ABOUT IDAHO

• Idaho dropped three matches last week to move to 1-5 overall on the season. Despite last week's struggles, Taylor Brickey returned back to the fold after missing the previous two tournaments to help lead the Vandals in kills. Middle blocker Renata Lopez Morales led the way defensively posting her first double-double as a Vandal with a career-high 11 blocks and 11 digs against Gonzaga. She leads the team with 18 blocks. 
• Newcomers have delivered strong starts to begin the season for the Vandals, as freshman Zuzanna Wieczorek leads the team in kills (40) and points (45.5), while freshman Lacy Cox leads in assists (92). 
• Aine Doty continues to have a strong season on the defensive end, totaling a team-high 80 digs and recording double-digit digs in five of the first six matches.

SCOUTING MILWAUKEE

• Despite dropping the first four matches to start the season, the Panthers have turned it around winning each of its last three matches. They came off wins over Montana State (3-1), St. Thomas (3-0), and Northwestern (3-1) last week at the St. Thomas Tournament.
• A key player to help set up their recent success is Ari Miller, who was recently selected as the player of the week by the Horizon League. She leads the conference in points (108), blocks (28) and points per set (4.00). The Panthers hold a veteran roster that includes 13 returners.
• Idaho has faced the Panthers twice all time with the Vandals winning both matches. The last time the two programs met was in 1994 when Idaho earned a 3-0 sweep.

SCOUTING SIUE

• SIUE started the season with a 1-5 overall record losing its last five matches. This comes off of their struggles on the road at the UIC Invitational, falling in three matches to UIC (0-3), Western Michigan(1-3), and UAB (2-3). 
• Junior Julia Treichel leads the attack for the Cougars, recently being named to the all-tournament team last week after supplying 28 kills, 28 digs, and four service aces. SIUE returns 11 players from last year and adds four freshmen. 
• Idaho and SIUE meet for the first time in the two programs' history.

SCOUTING WESTERN ILLINOIS

• The Leathernecks begin the season winless with five losses. They look to bounce back after losing three matches at the Popcorn Classic to Valparaiso (0-3), Oakland (1-3), and Eastern Michigan (2-3). 
• The Leathernecks add nine incoming freshmen and begin a new era in the Ohio Valley Conference. 
• This is Idaho's first meeting with the Leathernecks. 

UP NEXT: The Vandals will finish off non-conference play with a trip to Utah for a three-match tournament at the Utah Tech Volleyball Tournament facing Marshall, Utah Tech, and Southern Utah (Sep 15-16).
