Idaho Drops Home Contest to Eastern Washington

MOSCOW, Idaho – Idaho men's basketball (7-9, 1-2 BSC) dropped a home contest to Eastern Washington (9-7, 3-0 BSC), 79-58 on Saturday evening at the ICCU Arena. 

Quinn Denker led the Vandals with 16 points, three assists and three steals in 32 minutes of action. Julius also stood out with 13 points and five rebounds. 

The first half featured a back-and-forth affair as each team traded buckets through the first 20 minutes of action. Fans saw 12 lead changes and six ties as EWU carried a 31-27 lead into halftime. 

The Eagles boosted its lead to double digits (42-32) with just over 15 minutes remaining. From there, a 7-0 run transpired for Idaho to pull within one possession after a key steal from EJ Neal that set up a three from Denker to make it 42-39 with 13:20 to go. EWU responded to put the game out of reach scoring 37 of the next 56 points to earn a 21-point win. 

Idaho was unable to find a rhythm on the offensive end, shooting 16-of-57 (28%) from the field and 18-of-28 (64%) from the foul line.

The Vandals start a road stretch next week that consists of six of their next eight games coming away from Moscow, starting with a trip South to face in-state rival Idaho State on Thursday, Jan. 18 followed by Weber State on Saturday, Jan. 20.
