Idaho Set to Wrap Up Regular Season At Northern Colorado

Vandals are still in contention for Big Sky regular season title

MOSCOW, Idaho – The Idaho women's soccer team wraps up the 2024 regular season this week when it visits Northern Colorado on Oct. 27 at noon PT. Sunday's game will be streamed on ESPN+. The Vandals have won three straight in the series with the Bears, and are 8-4-2 in the all-time series, including 3-2 in Greeley, Colo.

ABOUT IDAHO
The Vandals enter the final week of the season at the top of the Big Sky standings, and only Idaho and Montana are still in contention for the league's regular season championship. Montana can spoil Idaho's bid for the title by winning both of its remaining contests, road games at Idaho State and Weber State, but if Montana loses or ties either game, the Vandals will win their third Big Sky regular season title with a win in the finale.

Idaho has won three straight games heading into the week, and scored nine goals in those three games. Alyssa Peters has quarterbacked the Vandal attack during that stretch, tallying six assists in those three games while anchoring a defensive unit that recorded its sixth and seventh shutouts of the season last week.

The Vandals are 7-1-2 in their last 10 contests and enter the week at 11-4-2 overall and 5-1-1 in Big Sky play.

WEEKLY AWARDS
Two Vandals collected weekly awards for their performances last week. Peters garnered conference and national recognition for her work in Idaho's two wins, picking up Big Sky co-Offensive Player of the Week honors after collecting four assists in two games. Peters also earned National Player of the Week honors from Top Drawer Soccer. She enters this week ranked second in the nation with 13 assists on the season.

Meanwhile, Vandal goalkeeper Paula Flores earned Big Sky Defensive Player of the Week honors after collecting her sixth and seventh shutouts of the season with nine saves on the week. Flores' seven shutouts are second in the Big Sky.

OFFENSIVE ATTACK
Idaho has scored in every game this season, and leads the Big Sky with 33 goals on the year, averaging 1.94 goals per game.

DEFEND THE DOME
Idaho completed an unbeaten home campaign and broke the program record for home winning percentage in a season. The Vandals finished the 2024 home season with a 7-0-1 (.938) record, eclipsing the 2018 team's program record of a 6-0-1 (.929) home mark.

POSTSEASON
Idaho has not only clinched a spot in the Big Sky Tournament (Nov. 6-10) but the Vandals have locked up one of two first-round byes into the conference semifinals (Nov. 8). Idaho is still in contention for the top overall seed.

ABOUT NORTHERN COLORADO
Northern Colorado enters the week with work to do to qualify for the six-team Big Sky tournament. The Bears sit in a three-way tie for seventh place at 1-4-1 in Big Sky play, joining Idaho State and Weber State with four points. UNC is 3-13-1 overall. Northern Colorado is averaging 0.59 goals per game and giving up 1.88. UNC goalkeeper Kaya Lindberg ranks third in the Big Sky with 4.83 saves per game.
