Volleyball Continues Four-Game Homestand Thursday

Idaho welcomes Northern Arizona and Northern Colorado

MOSCOW, Idaho -- The Idaho volleyball team (1-17, 0-7 BSC) will remain home this week to host Northern Arizona (9-9, 2-5 BSC) on Thursday, Oct. 24 and Northern Colorado (15-5, 6-1 BSC) on Saturday, Oct. 26 in Memorial. 

Thursday's action against the Lumberjacks begins at 6 p.m. on Thursday while Saturday's competition against the Bears will get underway at 1 p.m.

About Idaho
  • Idaho fell in a pair of home games last week to Weber State (0-3) and Idaho State (0-3).
  • Last time out, Taylor Brickey led the Vandal offense against ISU with 12 kills on a .385 hitting percentage. Miya Carmichael was vital in setting up the attack, recording 27 assists and contributing six digs to the Vandal defense. 
  • Wieczorek has posted a team-high 140 kills this season while also leading the team with 3.03 points per set and 2.59 kills per set. 
  • At the service line, Madu Fontes leads the Vandals with 19 service aces in 41 sets played. She averages 0.46 aces per set, which ranks second-best in the conference. 
  • The Vandal offense is set up by duo Natalia Wielgus and Carmichael. Wielgus leads the team with 231 assists while Carmichael has posted 194. In 46 sets, Wielgus averaged the tenth most assists per set at 5.02.
  • Defensively, Ada Isik owns 132 digs while Ceren Sert leads the team through conference action with 13 total blocks and 22 in the season. 

Scouting Northern Arizona
  • Northern Arizona has opened conference play with a mark of 2-5. After starting Big Sky play 0-5, the Lumberjacks have won their last two matches against Montana and Montana State to rank eighth in the conference standings.
  • The Lumberjack offense is led by Taylor Jacobsen and Keira Hall. Jacobsen ranks second in Big Sky with a 3.70 kill per set average, while Hall sits ninth in the league with 322 assists and 5.19 per set average. 
  • Millie O'Ketter's 4.94 digs per set lead the Big Sky Conference while Kendall Robertson defends the net with 62 total blocks. 
  • Idaho and Northern Arizona face off for the first time this season and the 37th meeting in the two programs' history. Northern Arizona leads the series 24-13 dating back to 1987.

Scouting Northern Colorado
  • Northern Colorado ranks first in conference standings with a mark of 6-1 and 15-5 overall. The Bears are currently undefeated on the road with an 8-0 record.
  • The Bears offense is led by Syd Cole. Cole ranks first in Big Sky 43rd nationally with 800 assists and a 10.13 per set average. She recently earned Big Sky Weekly honors for her efforts last week, posting 71 assists across six sets.
  • Defensively, Sam Steele holds the eighth most digs per set with 3.42. Isabel Bennett leads the team with 77 blocks.
  • Idaho and Northern Colorado face off for the first time this season and the 23rd time in their programs' history. Northern Colorado leads the series 15-7.
