MOSCOW, Idaho -- Idaho cross country faces its second test of the postseason on Friday, Nov. 15 at the 2024 NCAA West Regional.
This year's West Regional will be hosted at the Colfax Golf Club in Colfax, Washington by Washington State. This is the Vandals' second trip this fall to Colfax, after making the 27-mile trip from Moscow in September for the Cougar Classic. The competition gets underway at 11 a.m. with the women's 6K race followed by the men's 10K contest at noon.Â
Idaho heads to regionals two weeks after the conclusion of the Big Sky Championship in Pocatello. Both the women's and men's squads placed sixth in the 10-team meet, as Northern Arizona swept the top spot in both races.Â
Two Vandal women cracked the top 30, as
Leah Holmgren (17:53.6) finished 19th in her third race of the season, and
Constanze Paoli placed 28th (18:09.1).
Pia Kircher and
Jesse Redding continued their strong freshman campaigns, with Kircher (18:16.8) in 33rd and Redding (18:25.8) crossing the line in 43rd.
Alex Terry (18:36.7) was the third freshman to score for Idaho, placing 49th.Â
On the men's side,
Sam Fulbright continued to carry the flag for Idaho, closing his final Big Sky Championship in 26th (25:03.5). The final four to score for the Vandals crossed the stripe in quick succession, as
Miles Ferguson placed 33rd (25:30.7),
Zac Knapp finished 34th (25:32.2),
Shea Mattson placed 37th (25:40.8), and
Lorenz Herrmann in 38th position (25:41.6).Â
