Vandal Volleyball Closes Out Home Schedule

Idaho welcomes the Montana schools

MOSCOW, Idaho -- Vandal volleyball (1-21, 0-11 BSC) is set to host their final two home matches of the season as they welcome Montana State (7-15, 5-6 BSC) and Montana (6-16, 1-10 BSC).

Idaho will begin the week facing the Bobcats on Thursday, Nov. 7 (4 p.m.) before finishing with senior night against the Grizzlies on Saturday, Nov. 9 (6 p.m.).

ABOUT IDAHO
  • Idaho returns home after two road losses last week against Sacramento State (0-3) and Portland State (0-3). 
  • Miya Carmichael tallied a combined 32 assists for the Vandals over the two matches, bringing her season total to 273. 
  • Outside hitter Taylor Brickey led the team in kills tallying 16, bringing her to the front of the pack with 147 on the season.
  • Chiara Gennari contributed with 12 total kills to boost her season total to 71. 
  • On the defensive end, freshman Ada Isik put up 15 digs for the Vandals in the match against the Hornets. She continues to be on top of the leaderboard with 174 digs this season.

SCOUTING THE BOBCATS
  • Montana State lost both matches last week with a 0-3 loss to Weber State and a 2-3 loss to Idaho State.
  • The Bobcats are led offensively by Nellie Stevenson and Madilyn Siebler. Stevenson sits at seventh in the Big Sky in assists per set with 6.24. Siebler is the Bobcat season leader in kills with 226 kills.
  • Lauren Lindseth backs the team defensively, averaging 4.53 digs per set which is the second most in the conference.

SCOUTING THE GRIZZLIES
  • Montana looks to snap a six-game losing streak after most recently falling to Idaho State (2-3) and Weber State (0-3) last week. 
  • Leading the grizzly offense are Cassie Newman and Paige Clark. Newman sits fifth in the Big Sky in assists per set (7.52), while Clark sits fourth in kills per set (3.45). 
  • The team is led defensively by Alexis Batezel and Brenley Hansen. Batzel averages 4.04 digs per set, putting her in third place in the Big Sky. At the net, Hansen averages the six most blocks per set in the conference with 1.1 average.

The Vandals head back on the road to take on Eastern Washington on November 15.
