FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Freshman
Naomi Schraeder notched Idaho's lone point against Northern Arizona on Thursday afternoon. The Vandals dropped the match, 6-1, snapping a four-match win streak.
Schraeder competed at the No. 6 position, where she posted a dominant straight-set victory to earn her eighth win in a row and move to 12-3 in singles. She won the first set 6-0 and was up in the second 1-0 before her opponent, Andrea Noguera bowed out due to injury.
NAU jumped out to a 1-0 lead in doubles after earning match wins on courts one and three to clinch the point.
Saffron Dowse and
Ida Johansson won by a score of 6-2 at No. 2.
The Lumberjacks won three of the next four singles matches to clinch.
Lena Beckx fell to Dolavee Tumthong, 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3 while Daryna Shoshyna won 6-3, 6-1 over
Ida Johansson to increase NAU's lead to 3-1. The match outcome was decided on court one as Pat Niewiadomska earned a 6-3, 6-3 win over
Selin Sepken.
The Vandals look to hit the reset button and get back on track, as the team hosts Sacramento State on Sunday, April 14 at 11 a.m. PST in Lewiston.
