MOSCOW, Idaho – The Idaho Vandal men's golf team plays Boise State in the inaugural Battle for Idaho, set for Monday and Tuesday April 15-16 at Hillcrest Country Club in Boise.
The tournament will be a six-count-four format with six golfers competing for both teams with the top four scores counting for each team. The teams will play two rounds on Monday, beginning at 8:30 a.m. off of the 10th hole.
The two teams come into the tournament with similar national rankings, but Idaho has finished second in each of its last two tournaments while Boise State hasn't finished higher than sixth in a tournament all season.
In the two tournaments that Idaho and Boise State played together this season, the Broncos topped the Vandals by four strokes in both events.
Johannes Hounsgaard will compete at the No. 1 spot for the Vandals after finishing second in back-to-back tournaments.
Sam Johnson will play at the No. 2 spot and
Joe Sykes will be third. TJ Patterson will golf in the four spot after solid performances in back-to-back outings.
Matt McGann will golf at the No. 5 spot and
Dalton Dean rounds out the lineup at No. 6 after missing a couple of tournaments with injuries.
The course will play at Par-71 and 6,847 yards.
