HUNTSVILLE, Alabama - Idaho volleyball fell to Alabama A&M in three sets, 17-25, 18-25, 20-25, Friday afternoon at the Betty Austin Invitational.
Idaho was led by
Zuzanna Wieczorek with 15 kills and
Natalia Wielgus with 21 assists. Defensively, libero
Ada Isik posted a team high with 12 digs.
The first set went to Alabama A&M, 17-25. Idaho was unable to break through on the offensive end, posting seven kills, seven errors and a .00 hitting percentage. AAMU kept the lead and took the first set.
Idaho fell behind 2-0 after a 25-18 loss in the second.
Chiara Gennari scored the first point of the set, and the Vandals came back with nine kills in the second set, but tallied another seven errors and a .077 hitting percentage. Idaho took another one point lead late in the frame, but AAMU had a 3-0 spurt that returned their lead and took the set.
The Vandals lost 20-25 in third set, but had their largest lead of the match at 14-10. Idaho was unable to break through offensively, but posted a game high of 13 kills and 0.200 hitting percentage.
Idaho is set to play their second Betty Austin Invitational game Saturday, Aug. 31 at 9 a.m. against Southern Illinois.
