Vandal Volleyball Adds Ben Kasun as Assistant Coach

MOSCOW, Idaho – The Idaho volleyball program and interim head coach Romana Redondo Kriskova is excited to announce the addition of assistant coach Ben Kasun.
 
Kasun joins the Vandal staff after two years of success as an assistant women's coach at Saint Francis University from 2022-24. 
 
"I'm very thrilled to add Ben to our coaching staff," Redondo Kriskova said. "His D1 playing experience, deep volleyball family roots and his knowledge of the game will be a tremendous addition to our program. Ben is a great leader with a desire to learn and always looking for ways to improve." 
 
The Altoona, Pa. native helped lead the Red Flash to their first winning season in almost two decades after posting a 15-11 overall mark and 10-4 conference finish in 2023. Kasun was responsible for creating practice plans for the offensive and defensive systems, leading the defensive strategy, and driving recruiting efforts.
 
Prior to his stint in Loretto, Pa., he served as the men's and women's assistant coach at Penn State Behrend in 2021-22. Kasun helped lead both men's and women's programs to winning records, including a conference tournament championship and berth into the Men's Division lll Tournament.  
 
Following graduation from Barton College in 2020, Kasun earned an assistant coaching role for the men's and women's programs. He led the Bulldogs' recruiting efforts and helped bring forward the largest class in school history. 
 
Before Kasun's coaching career got underway, he was a founding member of the Steel City Surge in the startup Men's Professional Volleyball League. He played one season in 2021 as the starting setter for the pro team out of Pittsburgh. 
 
Alongside his playing experience in the professional ranks, Kasun competed in a starting role as a setter and libero at Barton College for four seasons. He was an All-Conference recipient in 2020 and a two-time All-Academic honoree. Kasun's efforts helped lead the Bulldogs to consecutive NCAA Division 1 Tournament appearances and a Conference Carolinas title in 2019.
 
Kasun earned a bachelor's degree in sports management at Barton College and a master's degree in business administration from Saint Francis in 2024. 
 
Idaho will kick off the 2024 campaign on Aug. 30 at the Alabama A&M Tournament in Huntsville.
