MOSCOW, Idaho -- The Vandal soccer team will host the University of Nevada, Las Vegas on Sunday, September 22 to finish out non-conference play. The game will kick off at 11 a.m. PT in the P1FCU Kibbie Dome and will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
ABOUT IDAHO: Idaho women's soccer is entering the week with a 5-3-1 overall record coming off a tie (2-2) to Utah Tech last weekend. The back-and-forth affair featured goals from
KV Miller and
Jadyn Hanks. Miller secured her first career goal in the 79th minute assisted by a free kick from
Alyssa Peters. With her 21st assist, Peters is now only one assist shy of tying Megan Cummings' program record of 22.
The game kept the dome on the edge of their seats as the Trailblazers scored their second goal from a penalty kick in the 87th minute. In what felt like the longest period of the game, it was only 18 seconds later when
Rebekah Reyes sent a long ball to Hanks who was able to redirect it with her head and secure the equalizer. The goal marked her second of the season and 15th of her career.
ABOUT UNLV: UNLV's overall record stands at 2-3-1 after a tie (2-2) to Cal State Fullerton this past weekend. The Rebels were first to score with a goal by Mallie Ramirez, double assisted by Trinity Buchanan and Mimi Mendoza in the 26th minute.
UNLV kept up their momentum entering the second half with a goal scored in the 62nd minute by Cassie Villanueva, assisted from a long ball sent by Amaya Haley. It was also in the second half when the Rebel defense took a hit, and their short-lived momentum came to a halt. This allowed Cal State Fullerton to score two consecutive goals to end the game in a tie. Â
SERIES HISTORY: The last time the Vandals and Rebels faced off against one another it ended in a 1-0 victory for Idaho. While Idaho has the current win streak, the record remains in favor of the Rebels who have three wins over the Vandals.
