MOSCOW, Idaho – Constanze Paoli and
Isiah King have been named the Vandal Academic Services Student-Athletes of the Month for September supported by P1FCU.
Paoli, a native of Alzenau, Germany, competes on the Idaho track & field and cross country team while pursuing a degree in microbiology.
"Conny is looking for a transformational experience as a Vandal and is actively pursuing excellence in running and in her microbiology major," Associate AD of Student-Athlete Support Services
Thad Hathaway said.
In her second year of studies, Paoli attributes her success in the program to her passion for problem-solving and the numerous opportunities provided on campus to continue growing in the field. "My passion for microbiology stems from my love of problem-solving within the world of science," Paoli said. "I find great joy in the hands-on aspects of my studies, especially in the lab. Currently, I'm working on my own supervised project in Dr. Luckhart's lab as part of undergrad research. It is not only fun and exciting but also inspiring in terms of my future career."
The academic center's numerous resources and guidance have been instrumental in Paoli's academic development. "Thad has helped me with everything regarding academics," Paoli stated. "He's guided me in selecting the right courses and connecting with professors, but has also helped me through tough times. His open-door policy means I can always approach him with any issues, knowing he'll have the answers or direct me to the right resources."
King is a linebacker on the Vandal football team, competing in his junior season. The San Diego, California native is studying recreation, sport, and tourism management and was nominated for his commitment in study hall and almost obtaining a 4.0 last semester.
"Isiah has improved tremendously over his time here and has excelled on and off the field," Assistant Director of Student-Athlete Support Services Dani Hippe said. "I am excited to see where his future takes him."
King believes his continued progression in the classroom comes from the student-athlete academic services. "The academic center and Dani have helped me excel by making sure we have the necessary materials and resources needed to succeed in the classroom," King said.
A degree in recreation and sport management opens up doors for King to pursue multiple paths for life after football. "For my major, I enjoy learning about all the possible paths I can take and which one best fits me," King expressed. "A dream job of mine would be to work behind the scenes with a professional team one day."
