PULLMAN, Wash. – A new era in Idaho men's golf starts Tuesday when the Vandals take the course at the Palouse Collegiate at Palouse Ridge Golf Club in Pullman to begin the first season back in the Big West Conference after departing the conference in 2005.
Idaho was a full member of the conference from 1996 to 2005 and won the Big West men's golf title in 2000. This week, the Vandals get a good look at fellow Big West members CSUN, UC San Diego and Sacramento State, who joins the Vandals in migrating from the Big Sky.
The field also includes both Pac-12 teams, and teams from the Big 12, Mountain West, WCC and WAC.
Idaho returns three players who started last year's Big Sky championship, including Big Sky Individual Champion
Joe Sykes and All-Conference honoree
Sam Johnson. Seniors
Matt McGann and
Dalton Dean will be in the lineup after both put up strong showings in summer tournaments. Closing out the lineup is junior college transfer
Josh McCartain.
True freshman
Charley Simpson will compete as an individual for the Vandals.
Head coach
David Nuhn enters his 10th season as the Idaho head coach.
Play begins with an 8 a.m. shotgun start Tuesday. Teams will play 36 holes on Tuesday and 18 holes on Wednesday. The course will play at 7,302 yards and par 71. A live leader board will be available via
