Vandals Hitting the Road for Matchup with Wildcats

Idaho, Weber State to Face Off for 91st Time in School Histories

GAME NOTES - IDAHO @ WEBER STATE

MOSCOW, Idaho -
There were plenty of highs and lows for the Idaho Vandals to digest over the last week of conference play. After three more games, it feels like a century ago that UI took down Eastern Washington in a rocking ICCU Arena when in fact it was just over a week ago, just the nature of the beast when you play four games between one Saturday and the next. Those last two games tested the Vandals in a lot of ways, but they also responded in a lot of them, including Kolton Mitchell's buzzer-beater three to stun the formerly 6-0 BSC Northern Colorado Bears. But after a tough loss to Northern Arizona, the Vandals finally had some time to get some rest, and now the most important game of the season is upon us: the next one.

UI (9-12, 4-4 BSC) is set to hit the road for Ogden, UT, for the first of a pair of road games against the Weber State Wildcats (8-13, 2-5 BSC) on Thursday, Jan. 30.

LAST TIME OUT
The Vandals fell to the Wildcats in two matchups last year, first in a 65-88 showing on the road at the Dee Events Center, before putting up a tough fight in Moscow but ultimately coming up short by just a single point, 69-70.
Idaho is coming off of a 1-1 weekend with the aforementioned win over Northern Colorado on Thursday and a 72-80 loss to Northern Arizona on Sunday. Weber State also went 1-1 over the last week in a pair of road games, first falling to Portland State 56-74 in Portland and then beating Sacramento State in The Nest, 87-81

SCOUTING THE WILDCATS
Weber State is full of incredible tradition when it comes to basketball, with the name Damian Lilliard needing no introduction in the sport. Lilliard was joined by fellow former Wildcat Dillon Jones, who was drafted 26th overall by the Oklahoma City Thunder last June.
The current Weber State players making waves this year are Blaise Threatt, who currently averages the second-most PPG (17.6) in the Big Sky. Threatt is also averaging the fourth-most assists (4.0) and fourth-best turnover ratio (2.2) in the league, making him a versatile threat that can score points or provide opportunities for his teammates.

Idaho State transfer Miguel Tomley is averaging the sixth-most threes per-game (2.0), one of only six players to be making more than 2 a game.

SERIES HISTORY VS WEBER STATE
Idaho and Weber State are one of the most-played matchups for each other in the history of the Big Sky, first facing off in 1964. The Wildcats have a wide lead in the series, winning nine of the last ten and holding an overall record of 65-25 against the Vandals. UI's last win in Moscow came in 2022, an 83-79 barnburner, and their last road win came in 2018, where they edged the Wildcats 68-62 in Ogden.

The game will be broadcast on ESPN+, and Vandal fans are encouraged to tap into The Varsity Network and hear the Voice of the Vandals, Dennis Patchin, calling the action.
