MOSCOW, Idaho. - The Idaho Vandals returned to Moscow, commemorating the 116th Homecoming at the P1FCU Kibbie Dome in a matchup with Big Sky foe Northern Colorado.Â
After falling behind by 10 early in the first quarter, the Vandals caught fire as running back Elisha Cummings ignited the Dome with a season-long 29-yard carry. Idaho continued its 75-yard march upfield and posted a touchdown with a Jack Wagner 39-yard moonball to Cummings on 4th down, his longest reception of the year and his first touchdown this season. The Waco, Texas native accounted for 68 of the 75 yards on the 6-play scoring drive.
Rocco Koch set two career marks in the second frame. The athletic signal-caller ripped off a personal best 16-yard carry between the tackles and capped off the drive with a 12-yard touchdown run at the left pylon.Â
Down 18 at the break, the Vandals opened the second half on offense, marching down the field for 75 yards, the last 16 of which came on a Rocco Koch keeper, marking the first 2-TD game for the redshirt freshman. The ensuing two-point attempt, initially ruled incomplete, was given another opportunity following an illegal substitution infraction on the Bears. Koch carried the rock once again from the 1, churning through the pile for two points.
The Idaho offense continued to fight throughout the final frame. Nate Thomas ran for his first touchdown of the season, a 10-yard scamper around left tackle. The Vandals once again completed a 2-point conversion, this time with a Wagner pass to Nolan McWilliams in the back of the end zone. An onside kick recovered by UNC and a touchdown in the final minutes cemented the score at 33-49 in favor of the visitors by the time the clock hit zero.
