MOSCOW, Idaho - Coming off a hard-fought three-match homestand, Idaho Volleyball turns its attention to the state of Montana as conference play closes in on the last two weeks of the season. Winning out over the next two weeks keeps the program's chances at the first Big Sky Tournament berth since 2020 alive, a statement that has not been said for the program in quite some time, which is a testament to the growth of this year's team.
This week, the Vandals hit the road to the Treasure State for back-to-back matchups in Missoula and Bozeman, a Thursday rematch on Nov. 13 after hosting Montana to open their home conference slate in September, while Idaho gets its first look at Montana State when they clash on Saturday, Nov. 15.
When Idaho and Montana met earlier this season in Moscow, the Grizzlies came out on top in a competitive matchup. Kiana Greer led all players with 15 kills, showcasing the talent she has brought to the team all season long.
RE-SCOUTING MONTANA
Montana (15‑8, 7‑5 Big Sky) enters the week riding a dominant victory over in-state rival Montana State in Bozeman. With four conference matches left, the Grizzlies sit fourth in the Big Sky, and a perfect finish could propel them to the top of the rankings. The Maroon and Silver currently feature three players among the conference leaders. Gracie Cagle leads the Big Sky in assists, averaging 9.88 per set. Alexis Batezel is tied for first in digs, averaging 4.71 per set, while Delaney Russell ranks fourth in kills, averaging 3.47 per set.
SCOUTING MONTANA STATE
Montana State (11-12, 6-6 Big Sky) enters the week following a three-match losing streak against some of the conference's top teams. The Bobcats fell to Northern Colorado, Northern Arizona, and Montana, all of whom sit near the top of the Big Sky standings. The Cats hold some of the Big Sky's top talent. Lauren Lindseth is tied for first in the conference in digs, averaging 4.71 per set, while Teagan Jaynes ranks second in assists, dishing out 9.55 per set.
