UI Back in Moscow to Face Eastern Oregon

Idaho (2-2, 0-0) vs. Eastern Oregon (3-1, 0-0) MOSCOW, Idaho – Idaho Basketball returns to ICCU Arena Saturday, Nov. 22, to take on its second non-DI opponent of the season, Eastern Oregon.

The Vandals and EOU have not faced off in over a decade, with their last meeting coming in 2014. Idaho has won each of the previous eight contests.

Following an 18-11 season, the Mountaineers were picked fifth in the Cascade Collegiate Conference Preseason Poll. EOU has found success in the early part of the season, winning three of its first four. They faced Eastern Washington on Monday, falling 73-91 in what was considered an exhibition matchup for the visitors.

The Black and Gold continued to have strong performances on the glass during their week-long stay in San Diego. The Vandals outrebounded their opponent in both contests and snagged north of 10 boards on the offensive end in each game.

Idaho has been one of the best teams in the nation on the defensive end of the rim, as they rank sixth nationally in offensive rebounds allowed, according to KemPom.

UI's offensive reliance on the three-ball has continued this season, with 48% of its field goal attempts coming from beyond the arc, the most of any school in the Big Sky and 43rd in the nation. The Vandals have found success with their shot selection, making 10 or more triples in three of their first four contests.

Freshman Jackson Rasmussen continues to light up the stat sheet, as the Meridian native has made 55% of his shots while averaging 15.3 points and nearly 32 minutes a game, all highs for league freshmen. Seth Joba has been a threat for Idaho off the bench, as the Orchard Park, NY native has fueled the Vandals' efforts on the glass. Joba is grabbing 3.5 offensive rebounds a game, the third most in the Big Sky, and 6.8 total rebounds per game, while posting nine points in just 19 minutes a night.

IDAHO NOTES

    • This will mark the first time the Vandal men have had a regular season game appear on a linear ESPN since the 2010-11 season.
  • A focus on rebounding has paid off for Idaho, as the Vandals rank 28th nationally in rebounding margin.
