MOSCOW, Idaho – Idaho Vandal head golf coach
David Nuhn announced his 2026 recruiting class Wednesday. The class includes a pair of German golfer and a Canadien who will help fill in a roster that will lose four seniors to graduation this spring.
Miguel Morato Brede will join the Vandals from Kassel, Germany, Moritz Ampenberger comes to Moscow from Olching, Germany. Brae Rogalczyk is from Innisfail, Alberta.
"I am incredibly excited to welcome Brae, Miguel, and Moritz to the Vandal family," Nuhn said. "As was with our current freshman class, these three possess a high level of golf skill. More importantly, they are intelligent, excited to learn and grow in the game of golf, and I believe, have the inner drive to become elite college golfers, as they pursue meaningful degrees from the University of Idaho. Morato Brede is a prolific competitive golfer. He played in 12 WAGR countable tournaments in 2025 alone and played 12 in 2024. He has played in eight different countries around Europe.
He won the 2024 Planetgolf Junior International with three under-par rounds. He has four top six finishes in 2025. In 2023, he won the International Youth Trophy Medal Möbel Hesse with an incredible second round score of 63. He finished 12-under and won the tournament by six strokes in a field that included over 90 golfers. He played on Golf Team Germany 2023-24.
Academically, he is the Valedictorian of his class at Friedrich-List-Schule. He hopes to major in Business Administration while at Idaho. GC Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe is his home course.
Rogalczyk (Row-Gal-Zik) is another golfer with strong junior experience. He is coming off a second-place finish at the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour National Championship in Florida just 10 days ago. He started the tournament with a first round 65 and finished 10-under for the tournament.
The runner-up finish is just the latest event where he represented his home province. He played for Team Alberta four times in tournament play, twice at the Junior Americas Cup and twice at MJT Nationals. He was also the MJT Order of Merit Winner for Alberta. He also won the MJT Ford Series at Olds Golf Club and MJT Ford Series Alberta Junior Championship.
He looks to major in business and attend the Idaho Professional Golf Management Program. His home course is the Old Golf Club in Innisfail.
Ampenberger, from the Munich, Germany, area, calls Golfclub Olching his home course.
He has a pair of tournament wins this year in WAGR counting events. He won the Rosskopf Open where he finished five-under and the RB German Junior where finished six-under. He has five total top five finishes this year alone.
He looks to major in business at Idaho.
The trio will come to Idaho next fall semester to join the program.
Idaho is currently in the winter break after a fall that saw the Vandals win two tournaments, twice break the school record for team score and march into the top 100 in the Scoreboard by Clppd golf rankings for the first time since the introduction of the new ranking system.
The Vandals return to action on Feb. 15 at the Loyola Intercollegiate at Palm Valley Golf Club in Goodyear, Ariz.
