MOSCOW, Idaho — Idaho Volleyball closed out its 2025 campaign on Saturday, hosting Sacramento State in the season finale and celebrating senior Madu Fontes on her honorary Senior Night. The Vandals conclude the year with six victories, marking the program's highest win total since the 2020 season, a sure step in the right direction for a program with a bright future.
Idaho kept pace with conference powerhouse Sacramento State from the very first point. The opening set was a back-and-forth battle, with the Vandals briefly taking a 13–12 lead after a few timely Hornet service errors. Freshman Kiana Greer was perfect on receptions, going 10-for-10 to help keep the team in every rally, while Cayton White paced the offense with three key kills to close out the set.
The second frame started with Idaho facing an early deficit, but the Vandals quickly showed their resilience. White led the charge offensively, delivering back-to-back kills that brought Idaho within two points before the first media timeout. UI continued to battle throughout the contest, trading points in long rallies, but the Hornets kept the pressure on and took the decision. The Vandals continued to push the pace in the third, making the Hornets work for every point. Senior Madu Fontes contributed three kills over the match on a team-high .250 hitting percentage, while White led Idaho with 12 kills and Csenge Krakoczki led with 20 assists, finishing a decorated freshman season with 516.
Wrapping up the 2025 campaign, the Vandals saw several standout performances across a young and developing roster. Freshman Kiana Greer finished the year as Idaho's kills leader with 333 and ranked among the Big Sky's top hitters at 3.30 kills per set. She also contributed 264 digs, the second-most on the team. Fellow first-year Csenge Krakoczki directed the offense with 516 assists, placing eighth in the conference in assists per set, and trailed just so by Aleina Manaois with 410. Transfer Libero Kyriah Trefren made an impact from day one, closing the season as the team's digs leader with 291, while Koen Makaula led Idaho's blocking effort with 88 total blocks. Finishing off the Vandal leaders, Cayton White had a breakout season, posting 27 service aces and finishing second on the team with 292 kills.
These contributions from a key group of players set to return next year highlight the Vandal Volleyball program's bright future for the 2026 season.
Following the match, head coach Romana Redondo Kriskova, assistant coach Ben Kasun, and the team celebrated the career contributions of Madu Fontes, who will graduate from UI with intentions to pursue a Master's Degree in Dietetics. Also included in the ceremony was male practice player Ga Sum Isotov-Chang, a Hawaii native who dedicated his college career to helping Vandal Volleyball be set up for success on match days.
With the 2025 season concluded, Idaho Athletics wishes to thank the faithful Vandal fans who showed up in Memorial Gym and contributed to a weekly growing attendance across the year. With a bright set of stats set to return, the program looks forward to a big year in 2026.
