HEAR FROM COACH
"It's about our identity again," Coach Pribble said of Idaho's rebounding success postgame. "We want to be a team that can really defend and rebound. Coaches will say that you get what you emphasize, and we've been emphasizing rebounding, particularly on the defensive end, since day one with this group."
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Vandals came out strong, matching CSUN stride for stride in the opening eight minutes.
A 14-5 Matador run tipped the scales in their favor before Idaho clawed its way level by the halfway break, powered by a massive 15-point opening period from Biko Johnson. The Carson, California native closed the night with a game-high 23 points and a team-high six boards.
CSUN's hot shooting from the first half, where they knocked down nearly 47% of their shots, would cool in the first ten minutes of the second, allowing the Black and Gold to rip off a 26-10 streak to take a 16-point advantage.
Kolton Mitchell posted all nine of his points in the midst of this run, including drawing and converting an and-one during a streak of 11 straight points from the Vandals.
This segment would suck the air out of the Matador attack, as Idaho would build on it to sail to a 78-64 victory.
The Vandals continued to build on their season-long winning formula, with more than 20 points coming off the bench for the fourth time this season, and limiting one of the best offensive rebounding teams in the country to a season-low 10 o-boards.
