DAVIS, Calif. – The Idaho Vandals Women's Basketball team was back in action on Friday morning, playing UC Davis, stumbling to a 72-87 defeat against the Aggies. 

It was a slow start in the first quarter for both teams. Idaho forced five UC Davis turnovers in the first frame, and Ana Pinheiro - who had the best game of her career and set new career highs in points, rebounds, and assists - tallied seven points to lead the Vandals to a 19-18 lead at the end of the opening period. 

UC Davis started to separate in the second quarter as the Aggies caught fire from beyond the arc. With four three pointers in the second, UC Davis outscored Idaho by eight and took a 39-32 lead to the locker rooms. 

The Vandals clapped back in the third quarter. A balanced offensive attack saw nine Vandals score in the third quarter, led by another seven points from Pinheiro. Idaho outscored UC Davis 31-26 in the third to cut the Vandal deficit to just two points going to the fourth. 

A Kyra Gardner jumper to start the final stanza tied the game at 65, but the Aggies just couldn't miss from there, going on a 13-0 run that would seal the game for UC Davis who ultimately would go on to win 89-76.
