SARASOTA, Fla. - Idaho was represented by senior Bethany Rahn at the CSCAA Open Water Championships on Saturday, as she competed among her peers in the 5K, a qualifying event in which the top five finishers in each gender advance to the USA Swimming Open Water Championships.
Rahn finished in the top half amongst 100 female competitors, recording a time of 1:01:05.4 against some of the nation's best competition. The performance marked another strong outing for the senior, who brought prior championship experience to the national pool of competitors.
With the conclusion of the meet, the fall portion of the 2025-26 season comes to an end. The Vandals provided a lot of excitement in the first half of the campaign, highlighted by notable team victories. This included a win over 12-time conference champion Northern Arizona and a dominant performance at the NW Collegiate Invite. In addition to the big wins, Idaho also set several new records throughout the fall season, highlighted by Marie Mason breaking the school record in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:09.11, Ginger Kiefer setting a new school mark in the 100-yard IM at 57.16, Madelynn Butler placing second in the record books in the 100-yard butterfly, and Maya Salvitti ranking third in the 1-meter dive.
Idaho will now turn its focus to the winter portion of the 2025–26 season, looking to carry the momentum from strong team performances and record-breaking efforts into the remainder of the campaign.
