MOSCOW, Idaho - On Tuesday, the Big Sky Conference announced that Idaho redshirt sophomore guard Kolton Mitchell would earn a share of the conference's weekly honors, netting Co-Player of the Week off just one game played in the nomination window.
Mitchell, a Coeur D'Alene native, had a career outing in San Luis Obispo, playing all but one minute and lifting the Vandals to a thrilling OT road win over Cal Poly in the penultimate contest of the non-conference slate. The redshirt sophomore went 6-12 from beyond the arc and 11-14 from the charity stripe to notch 31 points, nearly tying his career high in the lattermost while tying his personal best in made threes.
The final of those triples proved to be the dagger in overtime, as Kolton bled the clock with the Vandals down one point and was true from the arc while being fouled, knocking down the and-one free-throw as well. Cal Poly responded with a bucket and attempted to foul Mitchell, but he went 2-2 from the line and cemented the win.
This is the second weekly honor for Mitchell in his Idaho career, after he secured Co-Player of the Week awards in the 24-25 season after a stretch that included a personal-best 32 points off another outing of six made threes. This is also the second weekly honors for Idaho this season after Isaiah Brickner took home the nod after a dominant performance in the Big Sky-Summit Challenge.
