MOSCOW, Idaho – In front of 2,486 screaming kids on Education Day at ICCU Arena, Idaho fell to Oral Roberts 89-92 in the first of two games for the Vandals in this season's Big Sky-Summit League Challenge. 

The two sides swapped buckets in the opening period, with the Black and Gold on top 21-18. Idaho struggled to convert from beyond the arc, going 1-6 from three, but made up for it by outrebounding the Golden Eagles 14-10 in the first 10 minutes. 

UI jumped out to an 11-2 run to open the second frame, giving them a 12 point advantage at the 6:25 mark. Oral Roberts responded with a run of their own, slicing the lead to just two with under four to play in the half. After over a minute without a point from either side, Kyra Gardner took control, scoring five points in the last 2:21 of the first half, helping Idaho to a 43-38 lead at the break. 

The Vandals started strong in the third, going 8-12 from the field in the first five minutes of the period. After posting eight points and seven boards in the opening half, Debora Dos Santos scored six in the first half of the third, powering a 17-8 Vandal run, helping Idaho to a 14 point lead, their largest of the game. 

UI would struggle to match sharp shooting from the Golden Eagles down the stretch, as Oral Roberts would go 10-15 from the field in the final period, scoring 36 in the process, as Idaho would fall for the second time this season.
