LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. – A strong second round led the Idaho Vandal women's golf team to a seventh-place finish at the BGSU Intercollegiate to open the spring season Wednesday.
The Vandals finished just 11 strokes out of first place with a three-round score of 915, highlighted by a second round of 297.
Emma Heyman finished 10th to lead the way for the Vandals with a three-round score of 228.
Kaylin Johnson rallied after struggling in the first round and finished 18th with a score of 230. She was joined at the No. 18 spot by Laura Caamano who was golfing as an independent.
Emma Kang finished 30th with a score of 232,
Zoe Newell was 35th with a score of 233 and
Jenna Bruggeman closed out the tournament with a score of 236 to finish 45th.
The Vandals return to action on Feb. 25-26 at the GCU Invitational in Phoenix.
