MOSCOW, Idaho – After a week at home, the Idaho men's basketball team will travel to Cheney, Wash. to face Eastern Washington in a rivalry doubleheader on Saturday, Feb. 15 at 4 p.m.
NOTABLES
Idaho currently leads the conference in three-pointers made, with a total of 233 for the season, averaging 9.32 per game. Tyler Mrus is at the forefront of this effort, ranking first in the conference with a three-point shooting percentage of 38.3%.
LAST TIME OUT
Earlier this season, Idaho defeated Eastern Washington 83-76, marking their first victory over the Eagles since the 2021-22 season. The Vandals took the lead within the first three minutes of the game and held onto it until the final buzzer.
The Vandals enter their face of Eagles coming off of a triumph over Sacramento State. The neck-and-neck game featured double-digit points from four different Vandals. Jack Payne led the squad with 21 points and six rebounds while Tyler Mrus trailed closely behind with 17 points and six rebounds.
SCOUTING THE EAGLES
The Eagles go into Saturday's match following a three-game winning streak, defeating Sacramento State 72-67 in their most recent showing.
Standing out for Eastern Washington is guard Andrew Cook, averaging 15 points per game with the fourth-highest field goal percentage in the Big Sky (53.8%). His counterpart Nic McClain leads the conference in steals, averaging two per game. As a whole, Eastern Washington dominates the conference in free throw accuracy at 76.5%.
SERIES HISTORY
The two teams hold an 11-16 all-time record in the Eagle's favor. Despite this, the black and gold came out ahead in their last match up.
