MOSCOW, Idaho – Vandal track and field is heading to Spokane for the third time this season to compete in the Riverfront Invitational & Multis at The Podium. 38 athletes will be competing for Idaho over two days of competition.
On the track,
Blossom Omogor headlines the Vandal women competing in Spokane. The sophomore from Warri, Nigeria set the school record in the 400 meters last weekend at the UW Invitational, beating out the old record by four tenths. Her 54.87 is the fifth fastest 400 meter time in the Big Sky.
This weekend, Omogor will be competing in the 60 meter dash, 200 meters, and the 4x400 meter relay. She last competed in the 200 at the season opening Spokane Sports Showcase on January 17th, setting a personal best 24.54, a time that ranks sixth in the conference. The women's 200 meters is scheduled to take place at 4:15 p.m. Friday.
Alyssa Marsh and Belen Garcia Arias are also running the 200. Marsh, a freshman, placed her name in the Big Sky top 10 earlier this season, racing to a 24.78 in her first race as a Vandal. Garcia Arias is the lone Vandal on the men's or women's side running a hurdle event this weekend. The senior from Spain is competing in the 60 meter hurdles, scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday.
Six Vandal men are running the 60 meter dash, with five taking on the distance for the first time this season.
Cash Jones is the lone Vandal looking to improve on a time from 2025, as he sprinted to a 6.92 in Moscow, the 13th fastest time in the Big Sky. The men's 60 is slated to take place at 11:05 a.m. Saturday morning.
Jana Willems and
Emelia Puerta are also running the 60 for Idaho. Willems crossed the line in 7.85 seconds at the UW Invite, advancing to the finals at the meet and placing her eighth in the conference. The women's 60 is scheduled for 10:35 Saturday.
A gaggle of Vandal women are competing in the 400 and 800.
Lara Holzhauer,
Rhyan Madden, and
Lydia Nance are all slated to run in the 400. Madden is looking to move herself up the Big Sky rankings, as the sophomore ran a 56.64 at the Lauren McCluskey Memorial, the 15th fastest time in the conference. The women's 400 is scheduled for 1:35 p.m. Saturday.
Nance and
Sara Casebolt are participating in the 800 at 3 p.m. on Friday. For both runners, it will be their first attempt at the 800 meters in 2025. On the men's side,
Sebastjan Bas and
Ethan Sturdivant are slated to run in the 800 meter race at 3:25 p.m. Friday.
McKenna Kozeluh and
Jesse Redding are set to compete in both the mile and the 3K on Saturday. Both runners will look to build off their performances at the Lauren McCluskey Memorial, where Koceluh ran a 5:21.23 in the mile and Redding ran a 5:05.69.
Zac Knapp is the lone Vandal man running the mile, as the senior runs the distance for the second time this season. The women's mile will begin at 12:05 p.m., with the men's following at 12:50 p.m.
In addition to running the 60 meter dash, freshman
Jesuye Doherty will compete in the long jump, the event in which he leads the Big Sky after a jump of 7.48 meters at the Lauren McClusky Memorial in Moscow. Doherty's jump tops the conference by 25 centimeters and was the seventh longest in Idaho history. The men's long jump starts at 3 p.m. on Friday.
Dante Cox currently ranks eighth in the Big Sky in the high jump with a mark of 1.98 meters and will compete again in the event at 5 p.m. Friday.
Mia Sylvester has dominated in the throwing events this season, posting the best weight throw in the conference and the second best shot put performance.
Tesse Kamps has had a strong freshman campaign and is currently placed 11th in the Big Sky in the shot put. Both will compete in the shot put and weight throw in Spokane, with the weight throw beginning at 12:30 p.m. Friday, and the shot put at 10 a.m. Saturday.
Idaho will split up again next weekend, with three meets in Seattle and Spokane, Wash. and Albuquerque, NM.
