Vandals Move Up in Final Day of Big Sky Championship

LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. – The Vandal women's golf team put up its best round of the tournament and moved up one spot in the final leaderboard to finish fifth at the season-ending Big Sky Championship at the Wigwam Resort in Litchfield Park, Arizona.

Emma Heyman and Emmah Kang finished one-under on the day to move up the leaderboard. Heyman rallied to a 16th-place finish at eight-over for the week to lead Idaho. Kang's final round moved her up to 24th with a score of 12-over for the tournament. Zoe Newell moved up one spot to finish 11-over for a 21st-place finish.

Jenna Bruggeman was 33rd for the tournament to close out her Vandal Career. Kaylin Johnson finished the last two rounds for the Vandals and was three over in each round, but did not qualify for an individual finish.

Laura Caamaño played the first round for Idaho finishing seven-over.

The Vandals opened the day tied for sixth with Northern Colorado but passed up fifth-place Montana and finished six strokes ahead of UNC.

"I am very proud of our team today," coach Stephanie Young said. "They stayed in the present and believed this round could be our best to close out the season. That mindset resulted in us shooting our lowest round of the tournament and third lowest score of the final round. Emma Heyman and Emma Kang led the charge to help us move into the top half of the leaderboard. A special Congratulations to our senior Jenna Bruggeman. She closed out a fantastic Vandal career today and has left a lasting impact on this program!"
