MOSCOW, Idaho – The Idaho Vandals are ranked No. 12 in the AFCA FCS Preseason Coaches Poll, as announced on Monday. 

This is the third-consecutive year the Vandals have been ranked heading into the season, receiving 371 total points in the poll. Idaho finished last season ranked No. 7 in the coaches poll.

The Vandals face a tough schedule this season and will be playing against four teams who are ranked in the coaches poll (UC Davis – 7, Montana – 9, Sacramento State – 14, Northern Arizona – 18), as well as two FBS teams (Washington State, San Jose State). Idaho is one of six teams from the Big Sky Conference that is ranked. The Big Sky Conference has more ranked teams (six) than any other conference in the nation.

Idaho's first game against a team that is ranked in the preseason coaches poll is on Sept. 27 at Montana in a nationally televised showdown for the Little Brown Stein.

The Vandals have been ranked in every single FCS preseason poll this year:

• Stats Perform - No. 12
• Hero Sports - No. 10
• Excel H Sports - No. 6
• FCS Nation - No. 5.

The season kicks off on Aug. 30 in Pullman against the Washington State Cougars in the Battle of the Palouse. That game is slated to start at 7:00 p.m. and can be seen on The CW. Tickets to the rivalry game can be purchased here.
