MEET ALEINA
A freshman setter out of Glendale, CA, Aleina Manaois (pronounced "Ma-NOW-ees") completed Idaho's recruiting class in time for the 2025 season as one of two setters added to the roster in the summer.
Aleina comes to Moscow with numerous accolades to her name following prep careers at Glendale High School and Sports Academy VBC. With a prominent role in multiple offenses, She guided the USAV Girls 17U squad to a Junior National Championship in 2024 and led Glendale High School to a combined 72-14 record in her junior and senior seasons. The 2023 campaign featured Glendale winning the CIF State regional championships en route to the state D4 Championship. They would end up winning the southern sectional title as well, earning Aleina CIF D6 Southern Section Player of the Year.
With multiple all-league honors, player of the year awards, and championships to her name, Aleina is a proven winner, and brings that mentality to Moscow.
"What really drew me to Idaho during the recruiting process was the strong sense of community and the connection I felt with the team and the coaches," she said. "I loved the competitive vision the coaches had for the program and the way they emphasized both hard work and team culture. I've really enjoyed my time here and as a Vandal. I'm excited to compete, represent the university, be part of something bigger, and the lifelong relationships with my teammates that'll come along the way. I can't wait to get started and be part of the journey here at Idaho!"
The Vandals, having begun fall practice, are set to begin their season on August 23 with the intrasquad Black and Gold Scrimmage at 2:00pm. The coaches also announced that the match will be followed by a free kids clinic available to K-4th graders. To sign up, return a signed waiver form to assistant coach Ben Kasun at bkasun@uidaho.edu.
