PULLMAN, Wash. – Josh McCartain finished fifth with a personal best tournament score of 10-under to lead Idaho men's golf to an eighth-place finish at the Palouse Collegiate which wrapped up Wednesday at Palouse Ridge in Pullman.
McCartain recorded just four bogeys for the entire tournament, and had zero in the second round as he recorded a six-under 65. He tallied a four-under 67 in the first round and was even-par 71 in the final round.
Dalton Dean also tallied a second round 65 that saw him pick up seven birdies in an eight hole stretch. He finished six-under for the tournament to tie for 15
th.
Charlie Simpson, playing as an individual, was five-under for round two with no bogeys. He finished three-under to tie for 28th.
"We had a nice afternoon round on day one," head coach
David Nuhn said. "I was excited to see Josh, Dalton, and Charley play great. I think overall we are close. This team is talented and deep. I know the new guys, who showed a lot of promise in their first college event, will be focused on improving the little things that make the difference in college golf. We will work to be ready for a great test at Air Force in 10 days time."

Henrik Koglin finished four-over for the tournament to tie for 53rd overall.
Sam Johnson finished five-over to tie for 57th.

Aaron Mohun finished 13-over to take 75th
Carter Frisby closed the weekend 16-over to finish 81st.
The team finished 11-under for the week, highlighted by 12-under second round.
The Vandals return to action on Sept. 20-22 at the Gen Miranda Falcon Invitational.
