The Amazing Kibbie Turns 50 - A Lecture to be Presented Friday

MOSCOW, Idaho – Idaho athletics, in cooperation with the University of Idaho College of Art and Architecture is hosting a lecture Friday, Sept. 12 at 6 p.m. at the ICCU Arena Alumni Room, as part of the 50th anniversary celebration of the P1FCU Kibbie Dome.
 
The lecture, given by D. Nels Reese, an Emeritus Professor of Architecture and the former UI Director of Facility Planning, is entitled The Amazing Kibbie Turns 50, and will feature photos and information from the construction of the Kibbie Dome through the last 50 years of its amazing life.
 
The dome, completed 50 years ago this year, is the home of Vandal Football and other Idaho sports, but it is also a cornerstone of the Moscow community and a cultural center, hosting concerts, shows and the annual Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival. The 50th Anniversary of the dome is a campus-wide year-long celebration
 
There will also be information compiled by the University of Idaho Special Collections Department and a scale model of the dome, completed by model builder Brett Pevey on display.
 
Doors will open to the public at 5:30 p.m. and the lecture will begin at 6 p.m.  There is no cost to attend the lecture.
