OGDEN, Utah - Ā Biko Johnson scored a season-high 26 points, and Kolton Mitchell posted his eighth straight double-figure effort to guide Idaho to a 75-67 wire-to-wire win against Weber State on Saturday night.Ā

HOW IT HAPPENEDĀ
Each side struggled to get shots to fall from the jump, with Weber State missing each of its first nine shots over the first five minutes. UI took full advantage of the Wildcats' early scoring slump, going on a 10-0 run to open play.Ā

The Black and Gold continued to build on its lead over the next six minutes, mounting as much as a 19-point gap. Biko Johnson was the key driver of the Vandal attack during the first 11 minutes, as the senior guard scored 11 of Idaho's first 27 points.Ā

The second stanza of the opening period placed a major focus on both teams' ability to make foul shots following a number of fouls prior to the nine-minute mark. UI and WSU combined for 27 free throw attempts in the last nine minutes of the half. Weber used a slight edge in this category to its benefit, cutting the gap down to 13 by the break.Ā

Jack Payne splashed a quick triple on the game's first possession out of the locker room to put the Vandals back up 16, but the Wildcats would not go quietly, responding with an 11-0 run to pull back within just four. Following a slow first half where he made just one shot, Kolton Mitchell stopped the bleeding with an almost magical underhand layup through traffic to push the score to 46-40.Ā

Both attacks quieted down after the scoring frenzy to open the half, posting only a combined 29 points over the next 8:50. Idaho led by just one when the offense began to fire again after a Mitchell three off a crosscourt feed from Johnson to put the Vandals back up four.Ā

UI would outscore Weber State 17-10 from this point and over the last 6:44, behind 13 points from Idaho's two starting guards, to hold on and claim a 75-67 win in the Dee Events Center.Ā
