MOSCOW, Idaho - Ā In front of a crowd of nearly 2,500, the largest of the season, Idaho Men's Basketball added another win to its 12-7 record by defeating Sacramento State 86-76 behind Biko Johnson's second straight 20-point game and a points-rebound double-double from Jack Payne.

HOW IT HAPPENEDĀ
Both teams came out scoring early, with the Vandals building a 14-10 lead over the first five minutes. With a depleted lineup missing both Jackson Rasmussen and Trevon Blassingame, UI's reserves were forced into action early. Payne would end up playing his most minutes of the season at over 38, and tallied seven of those 14 points in the first stretch. Aidan Sevilla checked in throughout the action and finished with five points and three assists in the opening period.

The Black and Gold built the pressure as the first half wore on and they settled into an offensive groove, stretching the lead to as high as 17 and finishing the first half with 1 made threes to carry a 15-point advantage into the break. Isaiah Brickner was nearly unstoppable in the frame, putting up 17 in his first start of the year and going 3-5 from the arc.

Coming out of the break, Johnson took control of the offense by delivering his sixth 20-point performance of the season. The senior guard led the Vandals scorers and steadied the attack to help Idaho maintain its cushion.Ā

An eight-point run midway through the second half gave the Black and Gold the breathing room it needed. The Vandals seized on the momentum swing and reasserted control, with Payne chipping in across the board, as he recorded his second career double-double.Ā

Kolton Mitchell also stayed consistent, stretching his double-figure scoring streak to nine games and scoring seven of Idaho's last 13 points.Ā

The Vandals didn't let the Hornets close the gap within the last seven minutes of the game, outscoring Sac State 13-10 to close the night with an 86-76 win.Ā
