Idaho Soccer Opens Conference with Draw Against Weber

MOSCOW, Idaho - Idaho soccer opened Big Sky Conference play with a 1-1 draw against Weber State on Thursday night inside the P1FCU Kibbie Dome. 

The Vandals controlled much of the opening half, out shooting the Wildcats 14-1 and putting nine shots on goal before half. 
Idaho's pressure finally paid off in the 44th minute. Payton Oelkers found Caitlyn Riggs, who scored her first goal of the season at the 43:05 mark to give the Vandals a one-point advantage heading into the break. 

Weber State responded with increased pressure in the second half. The Wildcats recorded nine shots and six corner kicks after halftime while holding Idaho to three shots. 
The Vandals maintained their one-goal advantage deep into the second half before Weber State found the equalizer in the 86th minute. Lily Blum assisted Bonnie Buswell, who scored on a header at the 85:25 mark to even the match at 1-1. 

Neither side was able to break the tie over the final four minutes, sending both teams away with a point in their Big Sky opener. 
Idaho finished the night with a 17-10 advantage in shots and a 9-2 edge in shots on goal. The Vandals and Wildcats each earned six corner kicks and committed seven fouls.
