Idaho Shuts Out Idaho State for First Conference Win

MOSCOW, Idaho – Vandals defeated Idaho State in their seventh clean sheet of the season to clinch their first conference win on Sunday at home.

The Vandals wasted no time getting on the board, as Hallie Prinos-Grumbach found the back of the net just 56 seconds into the match to give Idaho a 1-0 advantage. Her goal marked the fastest Vandal goal in the past five years.

Idaho maintained control of the match following the early strike, keeping the pressure on the Bengal defense throughout the matchup. The Vandals added two more goals in the first half to secure the 3-0 victory and three points in the Big Sky standings.

The offensive numbers reflect Idaho's control of the match. The Vandals outshot Idaho State 24-3, including a 10-1 advantage in shots on goal. Idaho also earned 12 corner kicks while holding the Bengals to 0.

On the other end, the Vandal defense gave Idaho State very little room to generate an attack. The Bengals were limited to just three shots over the entirety of the game and put only one attempt on frame.

Sophomore goalkeeper, Claire Manis, made the lone save needed to preserve the clean sheet as Idaho recorded its seventh shutout of the season. The Vandals entered Sunday's match having allowed just six goals through their first 11 contests.

Sunday's win moves Idaho to 7-2-3 overall and 1-0-1 in Big Sky play, remaining unbeaten through the opening two matches of conference action, and unbeaten at home.
