Joshua Wood Earns Big Sky Offensive Player of the Week Honors

MOSCOW, Idaho - On Monday, the Big Sky Conference announced its weekly honors highlighting the league's top performers of Week 6. Coming off a bye and leading Idaho to one of the biggest wins in program history, senior quarterback Joshua Wood was the natural choice for the offensive rendition of the award.

Wood, a Graham, WA, native in his second year as the starter under center, had a career night on Friday in the P1FCU Kibbie Dome, leading the Vandals to an electric upset of Montana State. The Bobcats came into the contest a near-unanimous #1 in the FCS as the defending national champions and on a 19-game win streak, all of which came to an end in Moscow in front of the eyes of the nation on ESPN.

Against a defense that had allowed just 15 points a game in the first five weeks, the senior signal-caller completed a season-high 76% of his passes (19-25) with two TDs, one of which a 75-yard rocket on the first offensive play of the game and the other with zeroes on the clock to set up the game-winning two-point conversion. On the ground, Wood carried the rock 15 times for 41 yards and a score, capped off by the statement final play where he lowered his shoulder through contact and gave UI the two points needed to shock the Bobcats and the FCS.

The Player of the Week nod is the second for Joshua Wood and the first for Idaho since he won the award in 2025 after a 281-yard, 3-TD performance that included 87 yards on the ground and a game-sealing 59-yard rushing score to lift the Vandals over St. Thomas in Moscow.
