POCATELLO, Idaho – The Idaho Vandals Women's Basketball team (20-5, 11-1) tips off for round two of The Battle for King Spud on Saturday, as it faces the Idaho State Bengals (17-7, 10-3) on Saturday in Reed Gym.

The game will tip off at 1 p.m. PT and can be seen on ESPN+. Doug Taylor, the Voice of the Vandals, can be heard over the airwaves on the Vandal Athletics Radio Network with the pregame show starting at 12:40 p.m. PT.

Idaho, the flagship institution of the Gem State, battles Idaho State annually for King Spud in a combined competition between both schools' men's and women's basketball teams. The traveling trophy, a relic of the mid-20th century that has since been lost and re-created, goes to the school that wins the majority of the four games played between the men's and women's teams. Should the schools split, the tiebreaker goes to the team with a better point differential in the series. After round one in the battle that the schools split, Idaho leads the competition with a +5 point margin.

Saturday's game features the two teams that are riding high, as Idaho is riding a nine-game winning streak and the Bengals have won their last five – the two longest winning streaks in the Big Sky Conference. Idaho has won 12 of its last 13 and has ridden this streak all the way into the College Insider Mid-Major Top 25, coming in at No. 22 in this week's rankings. The Vandals' nine-game winning streak is the program's longest since the 2013-14 season when Idaho won 10 games in a row. Idaho is also the first team in the Big Sky Conference, men or women, to reach the 20-win mark this year. It's the first time Idaho has won 20 games since the 2019-20 season when the Vandals went 22-9, reaching the Big Sky Conference championship game that was ultimately canceled due to COVID-19.

With an average of nearly 80 points per game this season, Idaho has the highest-scoring offense in the Big Sky this season. Conversely, Idaho State is limiting opponents to just 60 points per outing, ranking as the best scoring defense in the conference this year.

Idaho continues to rebound at an elite rate this season. Averaging over 47 rebounds per contest – fourth best in the nation - the Vandals have led the Big Sky in rebounding in every major rebounding category all season long.

Offense has been another calling card for Head Coach Arthur Moreira's squad. The Vandal attack has led the Big Sky in scoring all year, and ranks in the top 25 in the nation for most points per game, averaging nearly 80 each outing. Idaho is led in scoring by Kyra Gardner and Hope Hassmann, both of whom are putting up over 13 points per game. Hassmann was the star of Idaho's win against Weber State, scoring a career high of 25 points and surpassing the 1,000-point plateau for her career.

Idaho State is led by head coach Seton Sobolewski, who recently reached the 300-win milestone for his career as a head coach. The Bengals are led offensively by Tasia Jordan, one of the top scorers in the Big Sky Conference with over 15 points per game.
