PORTLAND, Ore. - Ā 22 points from Isaiah Brickner were not enough for Idaho to complete the comeback against Portland State, as the Vandals fell to the conference-leaders 67-77 in front of a record crowd at Viking Pavilion in Portland.

HOW IT HAPPENED
In a regular season game that was both teams' first on a linear ESPN network in over a decade, the two squads stepped up to the national stage in the opening minutes. Isaiah Brickner came alive from the jump, scoring five to help lift UI to an 11-9 lead by the first media timeout.Ā

Idaho extended the lead to three quickly after the timeout, before the Vikings responded, scoring nine straight to take over and energize the Rose City faithful. Jackson Rasmussen answered with a strong driving layup to draw the Vandals back within five. Points were at a premium over the next 2:30, before Biko Johnson splashed a second chance triple and Kolton Mitchell converted a set of free throws, cutting the gap to just three. PSU completely took over for the next three minutes, scoring 10 straight and holding Idaho scoreless for 3:20, helping them push the difference to 14 at the break.Ā

The Vikings continued to control the game in the opening minutes of the second period, converting tough buckets to grow their lead to as much as 20. Miles Klapper would not let the Vandals go quietly, though, as he splashed a massive three to kick start a hot 22-5 UI run that allowed Idaho to get back within a possession for the first time since the 8:11 mark in the first half.Ā

Portland State scored five quick points in response, before Mitchell forced a quick turnover to give Rasmussen a wide-open fast break layup to give the Vandals life. The game became a free throw contest from this point, allowing PSU to gain and hold onto a 10-point lead for the rest of the night, as Idaho fell 67-77.Ā
