GAME NOTES (PDF)
MOSCOW, Idaho – The Idaho Vandals Women's Basketball team (22-5, 13-1) continues in ICCU Arena this Saturday, as it plays host to the Sacramento State Hornets (12-15, 6-8) for the final regular season game as Big Sky Conference opponents.
The game will tip off at 2 p.m. Trevor Williams and Stephen Madison will be on the call on TV. Doug Taylor, the Voice of the Vandals, can be heard over the airwaves on the Vandal Athletics Radio Network with the pregame show starting at 1:40 p.m.
The Vandals currently sit in first place in the Big Sky Conference, and at this point in the season, every single game is crucial to Idaho's title aspirations. Head Coach
Arthur Moreira's squad is currently on an 11-game winning streak – the program's longest since it won 13 and 15 games in the 1984-85 season. With 22 wins, Idaho has recorded its most wins since the 2019-20 season.
With an average of nearly 80 points per game this season, Idaho has the highest-scoring offense in the Big Sky this season. The Vandals currently have four players who are averaging double-digits in scoring with
Hope Hassmann,
Kyra Gardner, Debora Dos Santos, and
Ana Pinheiro. In the Vandal victory against Portland State, six Vandals scored 10 or more points as Idaho cruised to a 20-point victory to clinch a record-breaking 11
th home win, which is the most the Vandals have recorded in a season at ICCU Arena.
Idaho is also one of the best rebounding teams in the nation, led by Dos Santos, who is grabbing nearly eight rebounds per contest. As a team, the Vandals lead the Big Sky Conference in every major rebounding statistic and are ranked in the national top 20 in each of those categories, too.
Sacramento State bounced back after a four-game losing streak, defeating EWU on Thursday in Cheney. The first contest between the two squads came down to the wire, but ultimately Idaho reigned supreme with a 62-55 victory in Sacramento.
