SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Ā Biko Johnson's 25 points powered Idaho to its seventh straight regular season win against Sacramento State, 86-80, in a high-flying back-and-forth contest.Ā

HOW IT HAPPENED
Shots fell early for both sides, with each team scoring twice in the opening 63 seconds, before Idaho found its first lead of the game at the 18:29 mark off a banked second-chance three from Isaiah Brickner. The Vandals would quickly stretch it to 11 following an 18-7 run that was dominated by four triples from Biko Johnson, with a four-point play serving as the exclamation point of the stretch. The Golden State native had a massive opening period, posting 15 points and three boards.Ā Ā

The Hornets battled back by scoring the game's next 10 points, before Brody Rowbury splashed a tre and got to the cup in twice in three possessions to put Idaho back up six. Neither team found a basket over the next 2:28, with the Vandals going scoreless for nearly a four-minute span in the middle of the period, which allowed the hosts to knot the contest up at 27. Back-to-back UI buckets, including a weaving layup from Jackson Rasmussen, allowed Idaho to regain a four-point cushion.Ā

A fervent final five minutes of the opening half saw four three-pointers between the two sides, forcing the Black and Gold to take a just two-point advantage into the locker room. After being held scoreless for the last 15 minutes of the first half, Johnson took control once again, scoring 12 of Idaho's first 18 points in the second frame.Ā

Sacramento State would not go away, though, as the lead would trade hands on five occasions before the 3:49 mark in the second half. Rasmussen would help the Vandals wrestle it back for the final time with 3:11 to go, and his fellow Meridian native Rowbury would put the game on ice with a stone-cold step-back three with less than 30 seconds to play, guaranteeing Idaho its third straight season sweep of Sacramento State.Ā

Rowbury and Johnson would knock down a series of foul shots in the dying moments to seal the result, and lift the Vandals to an 86-80 win.
