MOSCOW, Idaho – The mighty Idaho Vandals Women's Basketball (29-5, 17-1) team is officially heading to the NCAA tournament. The No. 13 seed Vandals will face No. 4 Oklahoma Sooners in Norman on Friday, Mar. 20. Tipoff will be at 7 p.m., and the game can be seen on ESPN. The Vandals celebrated the announcement in ICCU Arena with approximately 1,000 members of the Vandal Family on Sunday evening.
As the No. 13 seed, the Vandals make history for the best seed in the NCAA tournament in the modern era. In Idaho's three previous trips in the modern era (2013, 2014, 2016), the Vandals had previously been the No. 14 and No. 16 seeds.
Idaho is coming off winning the Big Sky Conference tournament and regular season titles. This is the sixth year in which the Vandals have won a conference title, and it's the program's first conference crown since 2019.
The 2025-26 Vandals have rewritten Idaho's record books.
An 18-game winning streak is the longest in program history in the NCAA era. The Vandals won 17 conference games in 2025-26, which is the most in program history. With 14 wins in ICCU Arena, Idaho has tied the school record for most home wins in a season. A 29-win season broke a 41-year-old record for most wins in a season (28, 1984-85).
Idaho is led by Head Coach
Arthur Moreira, who is the first Brazilian head coach in Division I history. The Vandals led the Big Sky Conference in scoring this year with over 77 points per game, and were one of the best rebounding teams in the nation, ranking in the top 15 on the glass in every major rebounding statistic.
Idaho is one of just six schools in the nation to have swept the men's basketball and women's basketball conference titles (Cal Baptist, Duke, Gonzaga, High Point, Howard).
