MOSCOW, Idaho – In the most recent Mid-Major Top 25 poll, the Idaho Vandals (29-5, 17-1) came in ranked No. 10.
This ranking comes after the Vandals won the Big Sky Conference tournament, clinching a spot in March Madness. Idaho, which entered the tournament as the No. 1 seed in the tournament and was the outright regular-season champion, defeated Weber State, Sacramento State, and Montana State en route to hoisting the Big Sky trophy and cutting the nets down in Boise last week.
Prior to winning the championship last week, Idaho was ranked No. 14 in the polls. No. 10 is the highest the Vandals have reached this season.
The 2025-26 season has been a historic one for Head Coach
Arthur Moreira and company. Moreira was named the unanimous Big Sky Conference Coach of the Year. In the offseason, he signed the No. 23 transfer class in the country, two of which would go on to receive top awards in the Big Sky this season.
Kyra Gardner, who transferred to Idaho from Washington State, was named the unanimous Newcomer of the Year and was selected to the First Team All-Conference. Debora Dos Santos, who was playing at San Francisco, was named the Top Reserve in the Big Sky and selected to the Second Team All-Conference.
In addition, returners
Hope Hassmann and
Ana Pinheiro received all-conference accolades. Hassmann was selected to the First Team All-Conference, and the Big Sky coaches voted Pinheiro to the All-Defense team.
Dos Santos, Gardner, and Hassmann were all named to the Big Sky Conference All-Tournament Team, and Hassmann was named the tournament's MVP.
As a team, Idaho made all kinds of history this season.
With 29 wins, the Vandals set a new program high for most wins in a season, breaking a 41-year-old record (28, 1984-85). 17 conference wins is the most ever for a Vandal team, and Idaho also tied its record for most home wins in a season with 14.
In addition, the Vandals have won 18 consecutive games, breaking the record for most wins in a row during the NCAA era.
After winning both Big Sky Conference championships this year, Idaho was selected to be the No. 13 seed in March Madness – the best seed Idaho has been selected as in the modern era.
